The Gospel Tract Society changes rapture positions

Special thanks to PJ Miller at Sola Dei Gloria for pointing me in the direction of this news article.  Apparently The Gospel Tract Society (who hasn’t heard of them) is changing their position on the rapture.  They don’t have an official position (for example post-trib or pre-wrath) but they no longer hold to a pretribulation rapture.  This is quite significant in my view.  The testimony on the website states that it was like scales falling from their eyes.  Here is a quote:

This website has the urgent purpose of sounding the alarm to the Church, to everyone who believes that their worries will be over because when things get rough they plan to be with Christ in Heaven, looking down on the poor souls who weren’t ready. For eighty-three years, the leaders of this ministry have thought the same thing, but when the scales literally fell off our eyes, we saw something different, much different.

It is interesting to see that one of the reasons they have abandoned this view is because the Bible clearly teaches a great falling away amongst believers during the end times.  Their scenario of what Christians may think or feel when the antichrist appears on the scene and the rapture has not occurred is worth reading.  I post a little clip here:

"…the Christians are looking around asking, “Did I miss something? Weren’t the graveyards supposed to be opened up and next—those alive are taken up to be with Him in the air?” Then, what am I still doing here—I love the Lord God!” Then the Man of Sin will laugh and say, “Oh yes you have been lied to, your Lord isn’t coming for you—he is already here and I am him!” The saints will be troubled to their soul because this man is telling the truth about everything, (apparently) and “I am hungry and my family has needs, I have no option except to join in with the rest of them.” Then the great falling away will occur and those who should have been the most prepared will instead be the least prepared."

There is a passion displayed in their announcement that they want to warn the world of the coming times of trouble including the antichrist, the mark of the beast, and the great tribulation.  Please spread the word about this important development concerning The Gospel Tract Society and encourage them if you can.  Read about the developments in their position as they occur at this website here.

This certainly is exciting Darrin! I think the scales are starting to fall off more and more eyes…

Darrin: I just saw your post and noticed that it was written Sept. ’09. A lot has changed since then and now I would define our position as “The Last Portion of the Resurrection of the Dead.” I completely disregard the use of the term, “Rapture,” because it leaves the impression of “secreting away of the Saints.” There will be nothing secret and nothing rapture about it. It will be Resurrection unto Eternal Life. Our position differs from “Pre-Wrath” by the span of “within that same hour.” You see, the damned of the dust are raised first and “bundled for the fire” at the same time the Two Witnesses and the 144,000 are raised. Then, “within that same hour” the sign of the Savior appears in the sky, then Jesus. He appoints His Angels to gather the Redeemed from the four winds. All this occurs as orientation to God’s Wrath and that takes place less than an hour before Christ returns, so Pre-Wrath misses it by less than 60 mins. • Thanks for the update in keeping people informed. I appreciate you taking the time to contribute to my blog.

In keeping people informed on where I stand, I see two passages in scripture which picture the saints in heaven after a rapture type event (even if rapture is not the best word.) In Revelation 6-7, the redeemed are in heaven before the throne of God having come out of the great tribulation, but to be spared the wrath of God which is contained in the trumpets. In Revelation 14-15, those that came out from the great tribulation are seen before the throne of God after the harvest of Revelation 14:14-16. They will escape the great winepress of the wrath of God and the bowl sequence which contain the final wrath of God.

      Thanks again for stopping by.
